![]() ![]() All those aside, great take on Windows 3.11. The chord sound is missing from the files, but that's not really that important. Dosbox x let’s you set the CPU type and speed and core. (It could just be my school laptop) And also, the internet can't properly be set up. I use dosbox x on my old MacBook and I run windows 95 on it. One, occasionally when I start to type something in Write, I get huge lag spikes. But I've run into an odd issue where music and some of the sound effects (such as recruiting ants, or when you die) work, but others do not. ![]() But here comes the minor issues I was going to talk about. Playing SimAnt via Windows 3.1 - sound effects issue So, I was recently running Windows 3.1 on top of DOSBox to play the version of SimAnt that I remember playing as a kid. Also, there is way more you can do on there than I thought. You don't need one of those dinosaur computers. It's like the box says, "Makes your PC easier to use!" This proves that emulation when using a 30 year-old operating system can still make it useful. The new Serial Ports page documents all of the serial port settings. The new Windows 3.0 page documents how to set up Windows 3.0’s video, sound, MIDI, mouse, and how to print to files. Because instead of going through the process of waiting for Google Documents to load, you can just pull up Write and start typing with little to no wait time, making note-taking and remembering things for later very easy. The Windows 3.1x page was updated with notes on how to set up the improved mouse driver, and more sound drivers. Not to mention DR-DOS, which WAS a real DOS but couldnt run windows 3.1 (though that was MS intentionally crippling it). Is there any way I can fix this I believe that in the nf file it is possible to set the sound card device to the SoundBlaster. The sound in the DOSBox environment works fine, however, in Windows 3.1, it whines about a sound driver. There are plenty of otherwise very capable DOS emulators out there which arent up to the task of running windows 3.1. I managed to install Windows 3.1 (not 3.11) onto DOSBox yesterday using my original installation disks. Pardon my language, but I find this thing way more useful than the pile of shit that is ChromeOS. Windows 3.1 requires a lot more of the emulator than a typical DOS program does. There are some minor issues with it, but I will get into those later. Although this is actually Windows 3.11 for workgroups, it is still working great. ![]()
